You have til the end of the season.

I typically set the deadline for right after the World Series sim.

I am going to let him sweat..... kid has like 29 days and can become FA instead of one more arb yr... I know he is relatively young - but man I had $13 mil budgeted for Mendez in FA and now that he has been re-signed... maybe I will use that $$ towards Christy... He has nothing but 9's and 10's in his evaluation and has pitched well in his young career-- but he is asking for Ace $$ now... maybe after SIM I will get a clearer picture as to what his demands are...

You can always demote him after the next sim so he doesn't become a FA

That's an option as well. I've allowed it in the past and it'd buy you another year to talk to him.

He has 29 days left before he becomes a free agent, so you'd only need him down for two sims

Not what would happened in real life... why SIM baseball to cut corners or make it unrealistic... the players association would sue the heck out of my organization for such actions in real life.. especially if he is performing well.... We'll see how it plays out... but demotion is not an option

I won't tell you to demote him but there are idiosynchracies that separate OOTP from real life baseball and this is one aspect of such.

Two sims in the minors is probably pushing it and I probably wouldn't allow three, but I've allowed 2 in the past to stave off free agency.
