Just a ? I have on a guy like Chipper// at his age and with these astronomical demands what type of Comp am I looking at if say I offered and got him to sign a FA contract in the offseason? With me being new and all to this type of SIM baseball, I want to prepare for a busy productive offseason, one that I could plan accordingly, without killing my pipeline and/or my budgets.... Thanks

You wouldn't lose any picks. We don't do that here.

But if you're asking if you get comp for him down the road, it would depend on the length of his contract and how he is at that age.

If you're asking about comp you'd lose...you don't lose any draft picks for signing a comp eligible player. My comp rules are a little different from real life MLB.

You get a created player equivalent to a 1st round pick for type B or a lesser round 2-ish equivalent for type C. Type A is extremely rare (I think we've had 2 ever) and you'd get two created picks. And all of this comes only if you make a legitimate attempt to sign the pending free agent.

As for the cost of signing a good FA, you forfeit your comp pick (if you have any) if you sign someone at the same level. So let's say Christy Mathewson is comp eligible...you wouldn't get that bonus created draft pick if you sign Jones. (who will no doubt qualify)

I do try to keep compensation fairly rare, though. The list is typically small. It's really only there to lessen the blow when OOTP makes GMs lose out on stars with excessive demands.
