It's not too late to alter that as I haven't started free agency yet and Type A has never been used thus far.

I could just create anoter 5 star. I'll give it some thought and discussion. Nothing's set in stone yet.

Or perhaps the signing team gives up their pick if they're in the bottom half but the top half just creates another 5 star, which is similar to the old real world system where only the bottom 15 gave up their pick and they got a sandwich pick if it was a top 15 team.

bottom half of the 1st round, or top half of the 2nd round from the signing team, plus that 5 star spect... aka, me giving up a top half 2nd round pick, would definitely intrigue me more to sign him... and would probably still make for the team losing them to be somewhat satisfied, since theyd still be getting a 5 star spect with a 4-5 star player in the draft [depending on the depth of the class, and where the signing team slots]. obviously its dependent on you, and maybe some other lower tiered teams feel differently than me... if the guy holding the first pick in the draft decides to go after mays, then obviously id be in the minority... so you could always run this free agency year through, and see how it goes.

I completely agree with hammer. Perhaps 1-16 is protected and 17-24 is not. I like hammer's thought process though. I wouldn't bid on Mays and give up my 5th pick.

Any comp is better than nothing; no need to be greedy about it.

I'll go with that. The thought process behind allowing type A super stars to include a lost draft pick for the signing team was that it would typically be a low pick anyway...but I don't want to punish the bad team that wants to start winning.

Somewhere 5 years from now Hammer's going to sign Magglio Gonzalez and Detroit's going to get a 5 star SP out of it.

I'm sure that's just a joke going over my head because Magglio will be 41, and likely dead/retired in 5 seasons.

Last time something was imputed, there was a surprise 9 months later.
