I'll see how the next 11 seasons play out as I actually update that thing, which I'm actually slowly working on for the first time in about two real-time years, lol
yea anaheim was a pathetic franchise when i took over. they didnt have a 90 win season from 2006 to 2052. of course, i took over in like 2042... so it took me 10 years to do anything with them. but yea, horrible stuff, and like i said, molina taking away first round picks from gm-less teams left this franchise barren. i wasnt even all that interested in the league til about 4-5 seasons into my run, because i had nothing to care about. set an opening day lineup (and even that i skipped once or twice), and tune back in the next offseason.

When I first started updating and compiling league history Anaheim was on bottom so you’ve dug them up some.
Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
Philly and Cleveland have also been to or won a world series in recent memory, so they don't count. :nope:
Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
Makes me curious to see you update the all time records. See where those teams are now.

It might take me a few months but I'm working on it, lol

To be fair, much of that happened after 2060 which is the cutoff I was referring to.
Given both franchises' recent success rates I'm fairly positive once I get it fully updated Arizona will be behind them.
Detroit and the White Sox could still be behind since they've been pretty bad as well, though.
The White Sox still won a WS at least once IIRC though.

8 of 12 winning seasons since 2060 started, I sure hope I'm far from that list.

When I first started compiling individual GM history, which is something Molina didn't do, I had to go back through the almanac files and go with what was at the top of the team's page. Naturally people changed names a lot but I got some help in a thread somewhere from some of those that had been with the league a long time and combined the records of some who I was told was the same person.
I'm sure there's some in there that's separated but the same person, though.
But, since you mentioned Detroit, here's their GM's according to my file.
Henry
(I can't remember if anyone had them between Dean and Henry. The site's showing Dean right now through 2055)

Yeah, I doubt you're that low when I finish, lol
Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
Just did the math. I'm exactly 100 games over .500 since that point. I was honestly hoping for better.

Ok, rocksports was Detroit in Mission's then. Sometimes I blur his, Molina's early days, and OM's together since they were largely the same group of GMs lol
Dang man, I can't even remember General as Detroit, which is weird.
Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
I think most teams go through cycles where they rebuild or tank in some form once their nucleus ages. That's normal.
I just think for Arizona, for example, who had a GM up until he was finally booted (which I think was the exact same time he was kicked out of the other league I was in) X amount of seasons ago, could be that bad consistently for such a long time is incredible in it's own right. You look at Detroit, they never had stability really except for small stretches here and there until Henry took them over. I can't even remember who was Anaheim before Hammer or who Philly was before JC. That might even pre-date me being in MSL. I feel like the Yankees had this issue till Mach came along too.
But Arizona had the same guy for 30 seasons or so... :bushlol:
Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
San Diego was in horrible shape when I took over. Pretty much everything Hammer said about the Angels a few posts ago was also true about San Diego (to include my early interest due to not much being able to be done).
IIRC they were either last or 2nd to last in the franchise win/loss standings when I first started updating that.
Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
I think I took over early 2030's, and everything before except the first few years was awful. So whoever was before me wasnt great.

Re: Arizona Diamondbacks: Worst OOTP Franchise Ever?
I remember I had an entire argument with Hangman about how I should have been able to turn San Diego into a World Series winner in 3 seasons one time.
Good times :bushlol:
