In my opinion you can get at least a little better with just a tiny bit of effort. You might not get the top picks but then again you shouldn't need them year after year.
this doesn't even make sense. Teams get better in many ways. Free agency, but you could get outbid, you don't know a team hasn't offered on a guy unless you care that much about it that you are creeping on other team pages.

Theres the draft and getting the higher picks get you the better players but even that is no guarantee because specs lose talent.

Id be interested in who you are talking about as well.

I took more crap than any other GM in MSL history for how long I took to rebuild

You can read all about it here.

Some of us have been in this league 10 actual years. Stop crying. Nothing is guaranteed. Build your team to the best of your ability. You get outbid, specs lose talent, teams tank to get good picks so they can be good in a few years. Small market teams need to draft and can't buy teams, I know first hand, failed doing this several times after getting frustrated with specs losing talent. Worry about yourself. It's an ootp league.

When I rebuild, I trade my older players for picks or specs. Yes i hope i lose a lot so i get a higher pick. If my specs develop i'll call them up as soon as they're ready. When i see signs of some of my young players are ready, i'll look into free agency like I did this year. I missed out on all of them. Some of us GMs have been here for awhile, and know what we're doing. I'd love to quicken the rebuild, but some specs take a long time to develop or don't even develop at all. You'll learn this when you're here for awhile.

I honestly don't care how anyone wants to go about rebuilding or how long they want to take doing it so long as they don't leave MLB ready talent in AAA or something like that (I gave NYY more leeway than I should have in that regard, but what's done is done)

But Manfred isn't going to burst into A.J. Preller's office and demand that he try and compete in 2017 if his target year is 2019, so I don't see why I should do anything different.

Yeah... note how you said a few years. My suggestion was to stop teams from doing it 5+ seasons. Because when 2/3 of the league is doing this, it completely kills the trade market and activity. I don't know who you you are referring to when saying someone is crying, but hey, sorry that I want the league to promote activity and being competitive.

    Wooooooo long live boredom!

I think the lack of activity on the trade market has more to do with general lack of activity than it does who's rebuilding versus who's contending.

I'm inclined to think up some added incentive to winning (outside of creating the draft class) but that could risk creating a conundrum where the rich get richer (ie, winning = deeper farm from added prospect that was given as an incentive) so it's something that I'd have to be careful with.

As the longest and most inactive of all GMs, I think I can say this is funny. Cause the more who tank, the less competition for the playoffs. I'm sure the guys in my division have been happy with my wait and see approach the past few years (And see most of the prospects bomb out on me haha)

And besides even if someone like myself is active, it won't help the trade market since I almost never trade.

I bet you were shocked when I agreed to that trade this past season. Even more so that someone even bothered to try after all these years.

I probably would have started rebuilding had I thought there was a market for my top players not named Marston.

It is what it is. Sometimes tanking for a few years is the only plausible way to rebuild.

I litteraly had miminal offers when it was time to tear down. So my best route is to go through the draft. That is my general preference and I've put together some dominant teams that way. But I've had some moments when prospects flame out. Also, my financial situation didn't allow me to sign an impact free agent for a while.
