Re: 2052 thread of in season banter and mayhem
I wouldn't have had a losing record if I had acquired everything in the offseason. I didn't coast into the playoffs.
I still would have never guessed I coukd have beaten Balty. But they have more pitching now plus The Jet is filled out. He scares me more than Stearns and Bonds.

Actually, totally forgot about that. I had a pretty killer infield though. Collins, Mojica, Stull, some third baseman that I forget his name. Sometimes offense can beat pitching.
Re: 2052 thread of in season banter and mayhem
OOTP playoffs are always wacky and it seems to dislike the best team more often than not.
Re: 2052 thread of in season banter and mayhem
so, i dont count the one game playoff from last year.
"i think i took over this team in 2041. it hasnt come close to a winning season, up until last year. this is the first time ive actually acquired high priced talent. its actually worse than that though... i assume the angels havent had a real owner in a while, because, they havent had a winning season since 2030. and a plausible playoff season [finishing 2nd] since 2026. and if they didnt make it in 2026... i have no idea how the playoffs worked back then... the last plausible time before that was 2009 [they finished 2nd in 2022 and 2023 too... but both were considerably sub-.500, so im not counting them]. so... possibly im working on ending a 25 year playoff drought, and plausibly, im working on ending a 42 year playoff drought."
so now its a 26 or 43 year playoff drought. but, lets be realistic... ill win 90+ games and miss the playoffs again.

My Atlanta teams ruled until I got pissed about talent loss and free agent shenanigans.. then Dave reaped those rewards. That Garon trade was legendary for Trendy and I.
Re: 2052 thread of in season banter and mayhem
That may be one of my fave deals ever cause it turned out so perfect, which rarely ever happens, for both teams

when i came in the league, anaheim and atlanta were both empty teams. i was gonna take atlanta, but they were so stacked that i didnt wanna step right into a ready team. and anaheim was mindblowingly awful. im happy i went the way i did.

You dealt me Schuck, which worked out well for me.
Not sure how the players I gave you worked, though.
Re: 2052 thread of in season banter and mayhem
Trevino was good. But then lost talent. Li and Espno were serviceable so that one worked out

It still stings a little. I had the best rotation by a good margin during that run. And my offense was no slouch either. Your team was really the only one that caused me trouble beating me in both of the back to back 120 win seasons. I do think if my 4 guys develop in the system right now. They will be even better than that rotation. It is a big if though.

The Garon trade was great for both teams. I think that was OOTP's say for saying I'm sorry for the Joe Arnold trade.
