Re: Discussion on A proposed Rule Change
I know I'm refusing to attempt to compete until KC dies. I tremble in fear of them.
I have an idea to help people compete.... 6 divisions!

You only need to be better than Toronto to make the playoffs.

But with KC looming, I know all I can do is get to the AL championship game, and that is such a failure of a season. I would anger KC by doing so.

I realize KC/Tampa Bay has won the last 3, but if the "best" team in the playoffs always won every series in the playoffs I'd have been in the last 3 as well.

Hey Mach, I have an idea. You trade for my players when I decide to blow up.

You have to look at more than just this year.
LA's old, SD's old, Colorado is almost broke, KC is near broke and old. But yet I can't find ANY buyers for a 5 time cy young winner who's 32, Mays who's 31, and minimal interest in Burdette who's 27 and signed to a deal that will pay him LESS than what Bunning, Ichio, and probably a couple others will get paid. This is a perfect time to be a buyer.
*Note I left Puig off that list for a reason, he will get paid more but he likely will make as much if not greater impact than Burdette has/will.*
Re: Discussion on A proposed Rule Change
And as anyone who's been in an OOTP league, best record tends not to win.

If you wait until KC dies then you'll have whatever next dynasty (whether thats Hou, Mon, Balt, whoever) to beat. OOTP is stupid when it comes to who wins in the playoffs. Porter's old Cards teams put teams to SHAME (like top 3 in every category) and topped 120+ wins twice and didn't win the series those years. You can't just say "Okay I'm competing now" a build done right takes a 2-3 year window just to get the foundation in place.
You're one advantage when you do start to spend is the fact you can pretty much absorb bad deals no one else can. I made a living off of overpaying because I had enough "cheap talent" (see Burdette as an example) that let me spend big on other guys without blowing out my budget.

This is true. I honestly don't know why Burdette hasn't had more offers. I have my own reasons as silly as they may be, but I'm surely not the only team that could offer on him.

Wait, is it not apparent that my post saying I'm afraid of KC is in jest? I'm not waiting for KC to die, just as an fyi.
Re: Discussion on A proposed Rule Change
I started trying to compete in 2043 and didn't really turn the corner until 2045.
Re: Discussion on A proposed Rule Change
I think Porter won 2 or 3 in a row.
