Porter wants some confab too.
Re: 2050 Thread of in-season confab
She doesn't have a team. We should give her Detroit, though

Re: 2050 Oakland A's "Best Offer Will Get Them" Block
You expect a first round pick for White?!
Re: 2050 Oakland A's "Best Offer Will Get Them" Block
I'd ask for a 1st for White :dunno:
I mean, I realize he's paid a lot and 35, but the contract is off the books this year and thus far he hasn't shown any signs of decline.

Also super loyal so you'll be able to sign him for a fair price for the next couple years and he's still raking it in
Re: 2050 Oakland A's "Best Offer Will Get Them" Block
And I would respectfully decline. The vast majority of MSL players begin to decline at 34. White is a statistical aberration already. Add $17M for a guy who is very likely to decline, and I don't find it a good investment at all. I'd send a 5.0 MR, or a 4.0-4.5 prospect. But most first round picks are future MLB players and 6 years of controlled MLB ball followed by 6+ years of negotiated contract is WAY too much to give up for a slim chance at one more year of stud starting DH stats. It might happen, but I'm not giving up the probabilities of 6+ years for the slim chance that White performs for one year.
I did not mean to hijack this thread. I just find the asking price for White so absurd that I thought I'd ask for clarification.

Your shittin' me!?! He's 35 now and will be 36. This isn't TSSL.

Eh, to each their own.
If I felt a power bat in the middle of my lineup was all I needed to get me over the hump and my 1st is going to be low I'd take the chance.

1) No way he asks for 17 mil... he'll be 10-11 mil max
2) He's also a first ballot HOF, he's not your average MSL player, he's a freak
3) You would have made the decline argument last year and the year before that and he didn't decline
Also he's a .275-40-130 guy with 6/6 local popularity... I'd lose more in fan interest and $$$ than your offer would give me in return
But lol at slim chance for stud DH stats... he's been a lock for them the last 14 years and you now think that he's going to stop because he's gone from 35 to 36.... pretty laughable argument
And its pretty obnoxious and rude to hijack the thread considering another person already posted that your crazy... the MR's are worth 1.25 1st's Oliva about .25 of a 1st and yes Randall White is worth a 1st and a half... at the very least...
