Thursday 5/18/2045: Kenneth Johnson shuts out Chicago (N) on 2 hits
CHICAGO (N) - It was a great day for Los Angeles (N)'s right-hander Kenneth Johnson. The 28-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Chicago (N) on Thursday. The bid for a no-hitter was broken up when Victor Stull singled with no outs in the 5th inning. Johnson (1-1) fanned 4 and walked none, throwing 108 pitches. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Los Angeles (N)'s shortstop Harold Maynard went 4 for 5, hitting a double, scoring 2 runs and collecting 5 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Johnson. Los Angeles (N) scored 12 runs on 20 hits.
