I understand there is a rule in place forbidding the trade of draft picks 2+ years away (The Sabu Rule).

I was just wondering if:

1. We can extend the rule to allow the trade of a future pick AFTER the draft (the month between the draft and the Trade Deadline) to help teams facilitate trades
2. Or because Sabu is gone, remove the rule altogether.

Like I said, not trying to cause drama just a question and I'll accept whatever Molina wants.

2 cents, I feel that Molina doesn't want to keep track of picks 4,5,6 years down the road, as he's already got a lot on his plate...

My question is "next year" as in calendar year or draft year?

It is my understanding that if the season is rolled over and the current draft pool is visible and that draft is in progress, you can trade picks from the current draft and ONE season beyond.

However, if one draft has just occurred and we are in the time frame between June 1 and July 31, we can only trade picks from the next season's draft.

If I am wrong, I apologize. I think this is a good rule. It is a happy medium that keeps things simple enough for the commissioner, yet allows the GMs to be more creative than not trading picks or only trading the current season's picks.

I'd be on board with the suggestion of going by the draft year. (ie starting 6/1/2043 we can start trading 2045 draft picks)

That said, if it creates too much hassle for Molina I'd definitely understand. I'm all about rolling with whatever the commish wants in these leagues since the commish is the one that does the vast majority of the work.

There were two GMs not named Sabu that forced us to make the rule in HSL.... Just sayin'.

Only draft picks from the current season and the following season can be traded. Since this season's draft is over you have only next years picks to play with now. I'm sticking with that.
