Wednesday 4/19/2041: Charles Gehringer stars with cycle against Pittsburgh
SEATTLE - Seattle's second baseman Charles Gehringer once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Pittsburgh's pitching staff with a 4 hit performance on Wednesday. In the 1st inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Bill Lee. Number 2 in the 3rd inning accounted for a double. A pitch from Bill Lee in the 5th inning left his bat for a RBI triple. A single in the 7th off Bryan Pickett accounted for his 4th hit. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Charles scored 2 runs, and he collected 2 RBI as well! He's having a very good season so far, batting .308. He's now the 104th player in league history to hit for the cycle! Avery Zurita was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 6/11/2040

    Batting AVG: .264 (18th)
    Homeruns: 21 (T-6th)
    Walks: 67 (5th)
    Stolen Bases: 22 (10th)
    Runs Scored: 106 (7th)

    Pitching ERA: 3.98 (5th)
    Opponents AVG: .256 (3rd)
    HRs Allowed: 12 (4th)
    Walks Allowed: 54 (9th)
    Runs Allowed: 86 (7th)

Considering I have no real true ACE... I am happy with the pitching... I would expect a higher BA on offense going forward, but even with it low, nice being in the top 10 in runs scored... still feeling this team out

    Batting AVG: .282 (10th)
    Homeruns: 23 (4th)
    Walks: 53 (15th)
    Stolen Bases: 46 (1st)
    Runs Scored: 112 (6th)

    Pitching ERA: 4.19 (8th)
    Opponents AVG: .301 (19th)
    HRs Allowed: 22 (19th)
    Walks Allowed: 43 (T-4th)
    Runs Allowed: 96 (12th)

Martinez and Fyfe are off to slow starts. My leadoff hitter leads my team with 6 HRs? The bullpen was solid like usual. They should get better as a team.

Still in first place! I expect a downfall soon, though.

Pretty excited to see Pierce become an elite SP spect. And Teddy Ballgame continues to develop at a rapid pace.

This sim was definitely better than the last one.

Walter Johnson seems to have woken up, save one bad hiccup vs Philly.

Still in first... but a big blow losing my cleanup hitter for 4 weeks... got to juggle the lineup some

Pitching still top 10 but my #1 starter is not doing well... bullpen mediocre...

Will be lucky to hold on to first over the next couple SIMs

The Orioles are still confused. Best pyth record, but pyth doesn't count. Derosa with an 8+ ERA...

Seems like your hitting takes a monster dive after Gutierrez in your line-up (Hunferford.Traynor,Vallejos all have ISO less than .06)

WOW! OOTP is crazy! For the second time in his career, Carbonell leads the league in hit batsmen... I guess the AI doesn't care that he has 10 control. LOL!

Happy to be back in first place....

Meanwhile, David Flickinger is having another good season despite having mediocre ratings.

I could be wrong but isn't there a rating for hit batsmen? Maybe that was another OOTP. Funny none the less.

There is a rating for HBP for hitters, but not for pitchers IIRC. I should open up the game again I suppose. I would think that hit batsmen would coincide with lack of control, but.... who knows.

Regarding your earlier post, I really only look for power from Hungerford. Traynor and Vallejos are more OBP guys. One of them is ok at .350ish and the other is not at .3ish.

I think I am going to juggle the lineup a little and move Dones down in the order, and maybe even bench him. I might even try a trade to fine tune this team.

Thanks CJ. It's been awhile since I loaded up my OOTP 6.5.
