    2040 St Louis Cardinals

For the 2nd straight year, the Cards got derailed after a 115+ win season. This time to Colorado. It has been a frustrating last two years. This year's team won't be as good and maybe they can regain the NL and possibly win a 3rd title in 5 years.

LF Vincent Conaway (9-8-5-10-9, 8-9-8 speed)
CF Maximo Sutton (8-9-5-4-9, 8-10-10 speed)
    2B Steven Hill (9-7-10-10-7, 6-9-10 speed)
RF Robert Shaul (8-7-10-7-8, 8-8-8 speed)
1B David George (7-10-10-4-8, cant run)
SS Donald Starrett (7-9-7-8-8, 8-10-10 speed)
3B Jacob Marinez (7-6-8-10-8, cant run)
CA Patrick Secrist (8-9-5-5-7, cant run)

Long time leadoff hitter Donald Starrett has been dropped down to 6th in the order. He's starting to decline. Vincent Conaway takes over and his career .397 OBP will help grately. Shaul and Hill move into the 3-4 spots after being the 6-8 hitters. The offense brings alot of speed and power.

    MI Leonardo Reynosa (8-7-6-6-5)
    OF Benito Zeno (8-10-5-1-7)
    1B Joseph Jason (7-6-7-5-7)
    CA TBA
    3B TBA

Pray Marinez, Secrist and George don't get hurt. Zeno will try to become the modern day Corey Patterson.

    Hernando Martinez (7-10-9)
    Todd Crissman (7-8-10)
    Martin Fyfe (10-8-6)
    Joe Arnold (6-9-9)

Hernando Martinez is the reigning 2-time Cy Young. Not much need to be said about him. Fyfe will win the K's title. Crissman needs to hit another level to replace the declining production of Arnold.

    German Veliz (6-7-7, 8-7-7 potential)
    Martin Saleen (5-6-8, 8-9-8 potential)
    Guy Vandenbosch (8-7-6)
    Bill Savory (10-7-5)
    Bill Hail (9-10-10)
    Magglio Gonzalez (10-8-9)
    William Tanaka (10-10-8)

Tanaka will get the closers job over Gonzalez due to him imploding in September and October yet again. Hail-Gonzalez-Tanaka is the best back half of a bullpen in the league. Savory and Vandenbosch eat a ton of innings. Veliz and Saleen get crash courses to the majors. Really have nothing to lose with them. Both will be better than Homer Nelson (who got a huge payday in FA, more than the big three) and David Figueroa.
