Bryant didn't come from a contracted team. We all get to bid on him when FA season starts.
Shouldn't we just make everyone eligible since free agency would just be tedious and more work on top of a contraction draft? Makes the draft better, since he's getting more GM's at a good time.

Naw, cuz the contraction eligible players will be held in the pool until after FA and signed to one year deals. Then it is up to the GM to extend them... or not...
And there probably wouldn't be much left in the FA pool so doing free agency would be pretty much pointless.

Well, that's my point, why not just draft from everyone since it sounds like a free agent period after the draft will just be minuscule at this point? Teams are getting some help, some good teams had high picks so it's almost like they signed a big free agent. Eh eh?

I would be bothered by that since I cleared a whole bunch of payroll in preparation for this FA class. There are actually quite a few good FAs in the pool for everyone to bid on.
You won 101 games, got a top 5 contraction pick to draft a pretty sweet hitting catcher... and you're bothered. Awesome.
