his number was retired in 1997, the year after he had to leave the game way too early due to glaucoma.

OH man, I am so ****ing sad right now.

Wow... What a tragedy at the age of 45 and what a great baseball player. Definately a sad day for all baseball fans.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

PUckett was 44! He had to be 60 pounds over weight.. F*** this is not right. All the losers in in would and Puckett time was up.

Can't wait to see what mlb will do for the Puckett family.

this should be the most inportant thing in baseball right now. I still remember the game where in hit the game winning world series homerun. The homer hanky's were all in the air you could not see anything in the stands but that.

That is the biggest moment in Pucks history as a Twins for me! He told the boys to jump on his back he is going to carry the team and HE DID!

    Puckett will be missed!

He allegedly did some things that didn't endear him to the media and the Twins P.R., so that's why he left to Arizona. But it appeared he cleaned up his act and he planned to get married in June, so it's still messed up that his time was up this soon.

TK has said he doesn't know where he would be today if it weren't for Kirby Puckett. Kirby made a name not only for himself and the Twins but for individuals like Tom Kelly who was his manager for the 10 out of 12 years Kirby was in the bigs.

It is a sad time for all Twins fans. I've been a fan since the mid-70's and I can't remember enjoying the game of baseball more than when Kirby was on the field. Just his presence on the field made it more fun to watch. He certainly set an example that others throughout the sporting world can only dream of attaining. Hopefully there will be some like Torii, who was very close with Kirby, who will carry the Kirby torch although that will be a tough job to fill.

Kirby said "LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH" in his speech in May of 97 and I haven't taken my "Live Love Laugh" pendant off since Sunday.

    God Speed Kirby Puckett.
