    4/12/05: Tigers/Twins

The Tigers come to the Dome tonight for a three-game series. It's their first visit to Minneapolis this year and it's the first series of the year between both clubs.

This is a good series. A good barometer for both teams. I know the Tigers want this series badly, but the Twins need it too. They can't fall behind the eight-hole early in the AL Central standings. This month is a very important month for the Twins. I would like to see them in first place by the end of the month.

Joe Mays starts for the Twins. He is replacing Silva who is out for awhile beacuse of a torn cartilege. This is a big start for him. The Twins need him more than ever if they want to win the division. He was known as a wild card that could make them a great team. Well now he is an important cog of this rotation. Twins need him to perform if they want to win the division for the fourth straight year. He has to be very good. I really hope he does well. I am crossing my fingers.

I read a quote by Tigers 1B Dimitri Young yesterday. This guy is talking trash as he is saying that only his team and the Indians will win the division. I think it's funny. You would think the players on this team would just be quiet and get the job done. After almost breaking the 1962 Mets record for most losses couple of years ago, why Dimitri Young of all people is talking. I know he is banking on the losses of the infield players as the Twins demise, but he should know better about how the Twins has found a way to replace players. Maybe the Twins can prove something to him in this series.

    Maroth vs. Mays

I will be on for gamethread chat tonight if anyone is interested.

I'll peek in when/if I can. Busy at work with a lot of things tonight, so I don't know how much I'll be around.

Funny, Young saying the Tigers can contend for the ALC? Hahaha... I'd flip a coin for Detroit and KC to see who is dead last in the AL, much less the division. No chance for Detroit to win the division. What a dope.

I got the MLB.TV on the computer right now so I will post what's going on. Check in throughout the night. Though I will leave in a hour to eat dinner. I am at the campus right now. I am using the computer lab on my night off.

Read what Young has to say here:

It's pretty funny what he had to say.

BTW, I got the Tigers announcers tonight.

How about the Tigers overpaying Maggilio Ordonez?

Already runners at first and second with 1 out.

    Tigers are threatening.

Joe really needs that strikeout or double play here to get out of a jam.

    1-0 Tigers

Joe struck out Ordonez, but he could not get that big mouth, Dimitri Young out as he got a single to drive in the Tigers first run.

Tigers offense is pretty good. Anytime you got Dimitri Young next in the lineup after Ordonez, that's pretty good.

Joe gets out of further damage.

He did alright. It would have been nice to have the Tigers not score.

Let's hope the Twins can give him a run back as we head to the bottom of the first.

Wow, MLB.com's gameday popup thingy is pretty sweet. It even shows where in (and out of) the strikezone the pitches were (and which pitch they are).

It also shows all of the pickoff attempts. VERY COOL!

Runners at first and second with 1 out for the good guys.

Maroth is not throwing strikes. He walked Torii and now Jacques.

It would be nice to get a run here.

Maroth: 34 pitches and there's only 1 out in the bottom of the 2nd. Egads man. He's not going to last long at that rate.

Glad you like MLB.com Gameday, Lynch.

It's a lot faster and accurate than ESPN.com

Maroth is all over the place. He threw two balls beneath the strikezone as Jacques did not even swing. He has a 3-2 count on Lew here.
