one more quick not regarding pitching prospect Francisco Liriano who came in during the 9th inning of this game:
LHP Francisco Liriano made his major league debut in the ninth inning of Monday's 7-0 loss to Texas. Liriano, one of Minnesota's top prospects, was 12-7 with a 3.64 ERA with 204 strikeouts in 27 starts between Class AA New Britain of the Eastern League and Class AAA Rochester of the International League. Liriano, who was acquired in 2003 along with closer Joe Nathan and RHP Boof Bonser from San Francisco in exchange for C A.J. Pierzynski, was the International League's Rookie of the Year. Liriano was rudely welcomed to the big leagues by RF Gary Matthews Jr., who clobbered a 3-1 pitch to left field that was announced as 438 feet. Liriano settled down by stiking out C Gerald Laird with three pitches and RF David Dellucci before getting 2B Michael Young to ground out to end the inning. "He's going to be special," Twins pitching coach Rick Anderson said. "What he did to get to this point already is pretty special."
