If you think putting words that have absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter in my mouth helps your argument then more power to you, but I was only commenting on the risk/reward ratio of the Twins signing Zumaya to 800K.

He lasted 13 goddamn pitches. Twins aren't losing out on anything as insurance will likely pay for anything lost so yes, it was low risk. I just don't think we'll ever see Zumaya pitch again.

400k was what he got paid. 800k was if he pitched a specific amount of innings. I will say this his career is over.

The original post says he'll earn at least 800k and could have made as much as 1.7 mil.

whats the difference? The Twins won't pay him one penny the insurance company on the contract will pay it.

which surely comes out of the premium that the Twins are paying their insurance company. Insurance companies don't give away money for shit.

Teams pay for insurance on nearly all the contracts. This one won't cost them much out of pocket.

It almost makes me wish the right pitching coach would've got a hold of him sooner and taught him how to be a starter. They could teach him to refine his control, and work in the 92-94 MPH range instead of trying to throw 104 MPH fastballs every pitch. He could've turned in to a great pitcher, now, he's done.

    Sad story.

It appears Zumaya will try to make a comeback next season, opting for TJ surgery: Minnesota Twins' Joel Zumaya opts for Tommy John surgery - ESPN

My point is I guarantee if Ned Colletti had been the GM who blew the 800K on Zumaya, people wouldn't have afforded him the same benefit of the doubt that they would for a more respected GM like Terry Ryan, or hell, even Josh Byrnes.

You're pure speculation on that matter still has nothing to do with the arguments I made in this thread.

    Who's being bitter now?

The fact that I despise SABRdorks who shit over every move my GM makes has nothing to do with your own bitterness that a cunnt like Mark Sanchez would KO your team in the playoffs.

My bitterness is over something that actually happened. You're being bitter in this thread over a fabricated response over a hypothetical event that never took place and words being put in other people's mouths.

    Re: Twins ink Zumaya

I do enjoy watching the few occasions that another team tries to show us up by signing our former players on the cheap, only for the deal to go bust, a la the Rays with Manny and the Padres with the O-Dawg. I guess that does make me bitter. Oh well.
