Twins Thome hits #599 and #600!

Congrats to Jim Thome on hitting homer #600. He is the 8th player to do this. Without Thome last night the Twins would have lost the game.

Also the 5th non-roided up player. Congrats, Thome.

Great accomplishment. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

I'm really glad for Thome and disappointed that nobody seems to give a shit about this, at least nationally - the night he did it, this was the 4th or 5th story on SportsCenter, after 3 stories on the Jets' preseason game and a status update on Rex Ryan still being a fat piece of shit.

Then ESPN has the nerve to discuss why no one cares about it on their opinionated shows. Hey ESPN, its probably because you think preseason football is more important than a man joining a very elite club. 600 HRs is a lot harder than 3,000 hits but Jeter got press all day long.

One reason I seldom watch ESPN anymore. MLB Network had it as its lead story.

And #601 tonight in another Twins' win over the Tigers in Detroit. Finally, the Twins win another series. Although it might be too late for the Twins to get back in the race, they are playing tough and for pride. They want to send Thome out as a winner.

I'm happy for Thome. I watched him play in his early days with the Indians.

Thome was just placed on waivers, but that's nothing out of the ordinary. The Twins are just checking out what sort of deal they can get for him. It'd be better to get a B-level prospect for him than nothing.
