Twins Twins, Pavano Close to Deal

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Twins are closing in on a two-year deal with free agent righty Carl Pavano.
Pavano was thought to be asking for a three-year deal all winter and he may have been able to find it from a non-contender, but he chose to stay with 2010 American League Central champion Twins instead and will look to get back to the playoffs this year in his age 35 season. The veteran right-hander posted a strong 17-11 record, 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 32 starts last season and should do well again this year for Minnesota.
A two year deal is perfect for the Twins but they better keep searching for pitching. They need to find a diamond in the rough.

This would be a good move for the Twins and for the 'stache as well. He had a good year last year and would like to see that continue into next year with the Twins.

Pavano seemed to want a 3-year deal at the beginning of the off-season. He felt he deserved it. Unfortunately, the market didn't support that idea. He has shown that he can get good hitters to make outs, so he is a very good option. Hopefully, this deal gets done soon.

Twins signed RHP Carl Pavano to a two-year, $16.5 million contract.
The basic parameters of the deal were agreed to last week, but it took several more days to work out all of the financial terms. Pavano, 35, posted a strong 17-11 record last year with a 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 32 starts. If he can come close to those numbers in 2011 and again in 2012, it should turn out to be a fine deal. Pitching in Target Field should help that goal.
He got his $8 million and the Twins got their top of the rotation guy back.

Glad he is back. But they could have used there money on a younger pitcher.
