    Re: Angels Visit Target Field

Torii Hunter said Target Field was the best ballpark in the AL before the game. Hunter went 1/4 tonight. The first run the Angels scored came in on a double-play ball he hit.
For the Twins, Mauer was intentionally walked with 2 outs and 1 on in the 3rd. Kubel came up and hit a long homer into the right field seats to add to the Twins 1-0 lead. Duensing pitched 8 innings, throwing 103 pitches (78 strikes, 25 balls), allowing 1 run on 7 hits. He struck out 6. Guerrier pitched the 9th allowing a run on a hit.
Final score was 7-2 with Duensing picking up his 7th win. Haren lost his 4th game with the Angels.

The Twins pitching staff took a couple of hits today -- Kevin Slowey and Ron Mahay both left after suffering injuries. Slowey's triceps is hurting and Mahay stumbled on the field, suffering a leg injury of sorts. More will be known about their status after being evaluated tomorrow. Hopefully, neither will need a trip to the DL.
By the way, the Twins lost 9-3.

Both guys were placed on the DL after today's game. Slama and Blacky were recalled to replace them. The Twins don't have a lefty in the pen for tomorrow's game as Perkins threw 2 innings today.

Mahay stumbled on the field? Was he drunk?

    I don't think so, but I guess it's possible.
Mahay's injury was to his right shoulder. He dove for a ball and landed awkwardly.
Hope the Twins play better tonight. They need to continue winning series.

    Re: Angels Visit Target Field

Baker pitched a nice game tonight, going 7 shutout innings. Crain pitched the 8th and Capps got the 9th. Jered Weaver pitched very well for the Angels, but made a couple of mistakes. Danny Valencia hit one into "big-people" territory (it was the longest homer I've seen to left in Target Field) and Cuddyer hit one with the bases loaded into the left-center field gap for a 3-run double. The Angels never got a credible threat going tonight and it appeared the Twins had the game under control, even before they scored the 4 runs in the 5th.
The White Sox lost in extra innings again, giving the Twins a 5-game lead going into their trip to Texas.

Nice to see. Hopefully Blackburn got his shit figured out down in the Minors.

Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
