Huge series here. Time to see what this team can do against a team doing very well in their division.

Pavano wasn't as sharp as he's been in the past. Jeremy Hellickson looked very good tonight. Its likely that he'll go back to AAA soon, though. He'll be back to stay soon, I'm sure.
The offense didn't look as good today as it has recently. Kubel drove in both runs, one with a home run. Anthony Slama looks like he still needs more time in Rochester. Maybe Pat Neshek can come up and replace him?
4-2 loss to the Rays, who are now tied with the Yankees for 1st in the AL East.

I guess that Hellickson kid is already back down. He pitched pretty well.

He came up for 1 start, good or bad. He surely looked like he's ready to go, however.

    Re: Twins Visit the Trop

The Twins lost again 6-4. They played "small-ball" although they did not hit very well with runners on 3rd and less than 2 outs. The Rays scored their runs on 2 3-run homers, 1 in the 1st and 1 in the 7th.
Duensing had some trouble with the strike-zone in the first, and settled down nicely. It appeared that the home-plate umpire had a very small strike-zone tonight and that the Twins hitters, especially Delmon Young, were a bit over-anxious.
There's another game tomorrow and still another on Thursday. Hopefully, the Twins can take both of them.

A split would be nice, ChiSox trounced Detroilet today.

The Twins picked up a very good win tonight. Baker pitched an excellent game, allowing no runs in 8 innings. Capps gave the lead up, but Guerrier threw 2 very good innings, picking up the win. Delmon Young drove in the winning run in the 13th, after failing to drive in several runs earlier in the game (runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs).

Situational hitting did not exist in this game. Awesome job by Baker though, really good to see him have an outing like this against a top-level team.

Slowey is pitching very well through 6 innings today. 2 hits, no walks, 8 Ks, 1 HBP, but most importantly, no runs. The Twins jumped on Wade Davis for 4 runs in the top of the first and added runs in the 5th and 6th.
    6-0 after 6 innings.

The Twins bullpen gave up the lead in the 8th, but Kubel got a "bloop" hit in the 9th and the Twins won the game 8-6. Capps got the win, pitching 1.1 innings.
