    Twins Jim Thome?

Sounds like the Twinkies have serious interest in Thome becoming their DH.

Supposedly a Chicago radio station mentioned the deal as being done as well...

    per rotoworld:
According to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Twins have "real interest" in free agent DH Jim Thome.

A Chicago radio station is even reporting that a deal is done. Jason Kubel is firmly entrenched at the DH spot in Minnesota and first baseman Justin Morneau isn't going anywhere, but adding a hitter of Thome's capacity certainly wouldn't hurt the club. He hit .249/.366/.481 last season with 23 homers and would serve mostly in a pinch-hitting fashion for the Twins.
    What do you guys think?

I don't know why they would be persuing him. Maybe because he killed us all the time, but other than that, it doesn't make sense. Use this money to sign Mauer to a lifetime contract.

    Re: Jim Thome?

Bringing Thome in makes some sense. He can DH and Kubel could play left once in a while. Possibly, he could help Morneau and Mauer with their hitting?
This said, I would agree that using this money to sign Mauer to a long-term deal makes more sense.

Yeah, you have to sign Mauer longterm if at all possible. I would hate to see him go to the Red Sox just as Martinez becomes a free agent as well.

Why do you need 13 pitchers Ozzie? Do you really need that extra crappy pitcher?

This will probably take at-bats away from Kubel, but it might not be bad if they can put him in a spot when Kubel needs a day off or struggles against a certain pitcher.

Still on the fence about it though.

I'm not sure it takes ABs from Kubel. Young, on the other hand.......

I just wish Young would come out and show us who he was touted to be. At least a glimpse...please?

Delmon has yet to learn to take pitches, which wasn't something he had to concern himself with before because all he did in HS was drive a base hit in over half of his at-bats.

    Re: Jim Thome?

Well we signed him too a 1 year deal. He should add the pop to the lineup that is much needed. I think he could hit around 20 homers and drive in 90 runs with playing time. Now we need to find a 3rd baseman and 2nd baseman!

    Orlando Hudson anyone?
