Tigers Tigers Come Calling Once More

Now is the time the Twins will decide if they have a chance to get to the playoffs.
    Here are the pitching matchups:
Friday -- Porcello v. Duensing in a battle of good, young starters.
Saturday -- Verlander v. Pavano. This is a rematch of Pavano's first game with the Twins.
Sunday -- Washburn v. Baker, if Washburn's knee is ready.
Like I said, the Twins have to determine if they think they can make it into the post-season or not. This series could bring the Twins close to the Tigers.

Duensing pitched very well tonight and the Twins won 3-0. Cuddyer hit a 2-run bomb and Delmon Young drove in the other run. Mauer was 0-2 with 2 walks. Kubel seems to own Rick Porcello. He is now 8-9 with 6 singles and 2 doubles. The out was a very well hit line drive to center tonight.
Duensing pitched 6.1 innings and Mijares finished the 7th. Rauch pitched the 8th and Nathan pitched an "adventurous", but successful 9th for his 42nd save. Duensing is now 4-1.

Pavano pitched well enough to win the game today, but unfortunately the bats did not score the runs until he was out of the game. The Twins pick up a 6-2 win on a "bloop" double by Cabrera, which was followed by an intentional walk to Mauer and a 2-run single by Kubel. Cuddyer greated reliever Brandon Lyon with another long home run to center.
Jesse Crain continued his run of better pitching and picked up what Bert Blyleven calls "a Vulture win".
The lead in the division is down to 2.

In honour of the Twins run at the pennant, I am gonna wear my Twins hat out tonight.

That was a great win for a team that is in a tight race.

I've been wearing my "lucky" hat. The Twins have only lost 1 game when I've worn it during the game this year. Maybe they should hire me?

By the way, I'm sure Leyland, like every other AL manager will be happy to put the memories of the Metrodome's "Dome Field" advantage out of his mine.

Twins thumped Verlander. Wasn't really expecting that to happen. It seems that they have been winning while I haven't been posting. hmmmm

Baker didn't have it today and the Tigers won 6-2. Mauer was 2/4.
