Tonight at 7, Moseley goes against Nick Blackburn
Tomorrow at 6, its Oliver V. Kevin Slowey

The Angels are 4-5, the Twins 4-7. Neither team is off to the start they wanted. Will either or both break out this weekend?

Twins were expected to struggle a bit out of the gate, with Mauer and Baker out. With Scott back and Joe back in a couple weeks they can start putting wins together.

Kubel hits for a cycle, finishing with a grand slam, and the Twins win 11-9 tonight. My wife turned it off when they were behind 8-4 and thought it was another loss. She was quite surprised when I told here the Twins had won the game.
Nathan showed everyone what a closer is supposed to do. He threw 6 pitches, all strikes, in a perfect inning. He struck out 1 hitter.

Good lord, 3 cycles.... IN April. Cycles are 2009's trend of the year?

3 cycles already in a span 5 days at the start the season, damn. This is supposed to be a feat that's as rare as a no-hitter. We're getting them left and right.

Damnit, I went to bed early because I was really tired and they were down 4. That's what I get.

Kubel needed a game like that last night. He was only batting in the low .200 range, so a night playing defense must have really helped clear his head at the plate.

Hitting for the cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We actually had 3 cycles in the span of a couple of days last year as well, including two on the same day. And 4 in two weeks. This is unbelievable.

Kubel won't hit many triples, so a cycle for him is a real accomplishment, especially one capped with a grand slam.
If he keeps hitting, Morneau will see better pitches to hit, and the Twins will be much better because of it.

Slowey gave up a 2 run shot to Hunter in the 2nd, but looked really good after that. His line: 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K.

Twins at the plate had a 5 run 5th, and a 3 run 6th. Kubel was a beast at the dish (again), and he's 8-10 so far in the series. Young had a good night too, going 2-3 with 3 RBI.

Morillo, the kid the Twins got from Rox, looks like he pitched pretty well tonight, but a 9-2 game is a perfect opportunity to break one's self in and introduce one's self to a new team and its fans.

Twins sweep the Angels at the Dome for the first time since 1996.

Perkins went 8 innings giving up only 1 run on 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4. He also took a line drive off the leg by Abreu, but stayed in the game.

Gomez went 3-3 with 3 infield hits and Morales gets his first Major League RBI.

Off day tomorrow, then off to Boston for a 3 game series.

Perkins has been a real bright spot in the rotation, thusfar. It also appears Slowey has figured it out.
