    Lineup Twins Line-up for 2009

Here is the line-up I'd like to see on the field most days:
    1. Denard Span, RF (DH?)
    2. Alexi Casilla, 2B
    3. Joe Mauer, C
    4. Michael Cuddyer, RF (DH?)
    5. Justin Morneau, 1B
    6. Delmon Young, LF
    7. Brian Buscher, 3B
    8. Nick Punto, SS
    9. Carlos Gomez, CF.
Obviously, the lefty/righty matchups would have to be taken into consideration, with Kubel getting some ABs against right-handers. When he's in the line up, he hits in the #6 slot, replacing Young. Harris gets some ABs against lefties and would replace Buscher when he plays.

I like Cuddy splitting up the lefties in the 4 spot...he just needs to stay healthy this year.

I wouldn't mess with a good thing. Morneau spent all 163 games in the cleanup role last year and he is the Twins best RBI man.

Only guy who produces with the long ball is Morneau. When will we EVER go out and sign a guy that can protect Morneau in the lineup? Why not see what we can get for Young? Maybe a true power hitter and an arm or two for the pen?

I say give Young another year to see if his power develops.

I'm not ready to give up on Delmon Young, either. As to power, Cuddyer could help out if he can heal up completely. Mauer should develop into a 15-20 hr guy as well as he matures. Kubel could hit 25 if he plays enough.
Its too bad Cuddyer couldn't handle 3B, but he's a lot better in the outfield, as are the Twins.
Morneau disappeared down the stretch last year and a lot of that was because of the pressure he put on himself. With Cuddyer hitting in front of him, he will not have to be "the guy" next year. He could have another season like he did in 2006.

Morneau playing everyday might have had a lot to do with his second half meltdown.
