Interesting. Lets see what he has left in his arm. Last time I saw him, he looked to be in very good shape. He had been working out quite a bit.

I think he just has the itch to pitch again. He has been out of pro ball for 2 years. If he is in shape and can still pitch, why not put him in the pen and see what he can do? I dont think its a bad idea if he still has all the tools. Our pen is hurting and Boonser will be traded soon in a 3 ways deal with the Padres and Cubbies.

Peavy to the Cubbie
Twins get Derosa and Kouzmanoff
Padres get pitching from the Twins and Cubs.

Cubs had come out and said that they aren't moving Derosa.

As far as Erickson in the pen, that wouldn't be a bad idea. He might not have the stamina to pitch 170 innings, but as a long reliever out of the pen, that could work out.

That sounds like a decent idea, Henks. Erickson as a 5th or 6th inning guy, pitching 5 innings or so a week would be a good thing, if he still has his stuff. As I recall, when he was on, no one could hit his slider and sinker. I'd like to see what he has left.
