Twins Anyone See The Gomez Catch?!

Bottom of the 9th inning in Colorado, Gomez went full speed into the centerfield wall and make a spectacular catch that wins the game for the Twins. It was kind of like the Rowand catch when he was with the Phillies.

What was surprising to me is now fast Gomez is and how hard he hit the wall. He hit it so hard he bounced off of it and flew backwards toward the outfield. Great catch and a Twins win. Sure hope he will be ok to play tonight!

Does this officially justify the Johan trade?

That is the way ESPN was talking about it when I saw the catch. They said for all the Mets fans to turn there heads before they showed the catch by Gomez. Like that one catch makes up for all the super things Johan has done. Ha .

Gomez is going to be a great player, but Johan is alreadfy a superstar.

Definately not. The way it sits right now, it's a 1 for 1 swap. Santana for Gomez as far as production goes. That's ridiculous to say that it's paid off so far. If a couple of the other prospects start moving up through the ranks and show that they can produce at the big league level and help the team win, people will start saying that the Twins might have gotten the better end of the deal long term.

As of right now, no. But give it 2, maybe 3 years...people will start saying yes.

I wish sarcasm was easier to convey over the internet without posting a silly smiley after the post.

I agree with the announcers on Baseball Tonight. They have said that Gomez takes lousy routes to the ball, but his speed allows him to make these catches. When he learns to take good routes, ala Torii Hunter, watch out.
