    Re: Fransisco Liriano

The Twins will be well advised to ease Liriano back into the game. He has never pitched more than 150 innings in a season and to ask him to jump right back in would be a bad idea. He will be OK and should pitch about 150 innings this season, stretching out to 200 next season and from there, he pitches as many innings as possible.
As to the Twins making another trade with the Giants, who knows? Maybe the Giants have some position players and young pitchers the Twins could use?

    Re: Fransisco Liriano

Twins fans should take the Liriano trade to heart when thinking about the Santana trade and I'll explain why. When the Giants trade Nathan, Liriano and Bonzer for Pierzynski Giants fans didn't have a clue who Liriano was. Liriano was just another random lefty the Giants had in low A ball. I knew of Nathan and Bonzer and didn't really mind the trade at the time. I was pissed about losing Nathan since the Giants, who had a great bullpen in 2002, now had nothing left in the pen. Now the Twins have acquired a lot of potential in the Santana trade so don't be surprised if one of them turns out to be the next Liriano even if met fans won't miss the guys they gave up.

That's what I'm hoping for in Guerra. He's not 19 yet and has not scratched the surface of his potential, IMO. With proper coaching, he could be a steal -- providing he stays healthy.
Liriano broke into Yahoo's top 100, by the way.

all reports are saying he was working out/throwing while waiting for his visa to get processed, so hopefully he won't be too far behind the other guys.

    Re: Fransisco Liriano

Twins reported after their win against Cincy that Liriano is scheduled to have a bullpen session Tuesday, and possibly pitching in a game later on in the week.

Now we will get to see how he really is after his surgery.

I just noticed how ridiculous Liriano's K/IP and K/BB ratios are.

This guy is more of an animal than I thought.

    Re: Fransisco Liriano

Yep Liriano could really help Twins fans feel more comfortable with the loss of Santana.

I was talking to Henks the other day and I told him that the Twinks could have a much better offense than they have seen in quite a while. The additions of Young and Gomez to go along with Mauer and Morneau will make for great production.

Plus you have Liriano coming back with Kevin Slowey ready to deal as well. The Twins are in a tough division, but they look pretty sick.

    Re: Fransisco Liriano

yeah man, i was looking up some stats tonight; and it seems that some of those new guys aren't scared to put the bat on the ball. something the Twins definately need.

and redsrbetter, how's it feel to lose (granted, ST game, but still), on a walk-off in the 10th by some kid who not many people have heard of? hahah, jk, not but really...

    Re: Fransisco Liriano

I'll put it to you this way. I liked Young and Liriano so much that when the SBSL started off a while back, I drafted those two guys as my first two picks. Now the Twins have them both. Very good young talent my man.

And congrats on the win today. Too bad the knock wasn't against Stanton.
