    Torii Hunter Update

This is from Fantasy Football - Rotoworld.com which is a pretty reliable source...

People close to Torii Hunter say he would stay with the Twins if offered a five-year, $75 million contract by the club.
The Twins offered Hunter a three-year, $45 million deal this summer. The Minneapolis Star Tribune's Sid Hartman believes that the Twins can retain either Hunter or Johan Santana, but not both. However, the Twins were already willing to pay Hunter about $15 million next season. Santana's status shouldn't have any real impact on whether the club still wants to pay Hunter $15 million in both 2011 and 2012, and we imagine Hunter would be less likely to stay if Santana goes, as there'd be little hope of contending in 2008.

What are your thoughts on a deal like that, 75mil/5 year deal?

No Torii Hunter. Not ever. He's got maybe two or three good years left in him. By the end of any contract he would be an albatross.

Damon has zero good years left in him at least Torii has still got some. I would much rather see Hunter out there then Damon.

Personally, I'd rather see Johan as opposed to Torii signed long-term, as Torii is 32 and Johan is 28. Johan is one of the best pitchers in the game and Torii, while one of the better CFs, is not near the top of the game.
All of this said, Uncle Carl can afford to pay both and still make money for the team. I'd have no problem meeting Torii in the middle and offering him $60M for 4 years. Johan will command a large contract, but is worth the money the team would pay him.

I dont think Hunter will be in Minnesota next year, and I still firmly believe that Andruw Jones will be wearing pinstripes next year.
