    Twins It's Down to This

The Twins face off against the White Sox in "fan appreciation" weekend at the Dome.
Nothing really "on the line" for the Twins -- they are in the playoffs, and do not control their own destiny. If they win out and the Tigers lose one to the Royals, they win the AL Central and face the A's with home field advantage. If they tie the Tigers for the Central crown, they face the Yankees in NYC. Either way, Santana goes for the Twins.
Tonight, Boof Bonser faces Freddy Garcia. As hot as Bonser has been lately, I would not put a complete game shutout past him. Garcia has been pretty consistant all season, so I expect a decent game out of him as well. Should be a great game in front of a large, loud crowd in the Dome.

no, one-game playoffs are only for when 1 of the 2 teams can go to the postseason.

if both teams are headed to the postseason, then it goes by best h2h record to determine who's the division winner and who's the wild card. The Tigers have the h2h tiebreaker over the Twinkies.

right. The Tigers won the season series 11-8 from the Twins. The Twins need to win outright, which means they need to win today and tomorrow and hope the Tigers lose a game.
This is why they play an odd number of games with teams in the same divisions.
