    McCOmbs to buy TwiNS!

Used car specialist & current NFL owner “Red lemon McCombs” has secretly expressed interest in buying some twins. No, not those voluptuous Barbie twins, the soft hittin’ no pitchin’ all ready behind by 5 games Minnesota Twins. Never short of angles, the “tin pusher” is planning to pounce on the Twins as soon as the stadium bill passes. Down to his last 2 billion, Carl “cheapskate” Pohlad is more than willing to get grifted by “the dirty Texan”. Red figures to move in quick as the window of opportunity will be small. Once the deal is done, Red will get his outdoor stadium and guess what? Yup, the Purple has their new building! The Twins are homeless! YEE HAW, he done roped us again!

patriot: What do you think of my boy Carl trying to build a park on HIS OWN MONEY? I think it's great. It shows you the committment that man is doing in putting the Twins in Minnesota. I doubt he would sell it to Red even if Red wants it. This shows Carl is a great owner.

Steak, thing is, Carl will be dead before the thing opens. If it's going to take until 2009 before it opens, he'll be dead, gone and buried with every penny of that $2Bill buried in the casket with him. (yep, Carl really -does- believe you can take it with you).

I am banking on him to be alive by then. I hope he is alive when the new park comes to fruition. I would love to see him witness his dream come true.

Besides if Carl dies, his sons will help foot the bill.

Boys, if this stadium deal does go down,

Don't forgot about the naming rights. How much money will Carl get back from that 125 million? I would say at least 25 million. Did you know he also gets half the city owned parking revenue? What about ALL of the advertising once the park is completed? At least that's the deal at this point according to Mike Opat as he was on PA & Dubay today.

Bottom line: Baseball is a business. It's Carl's business. Like ANY other business, it needs to be leased or paid for by the owner. Carl is cheapskate. He's got 2 billion, he could've had this thing built 5 years ago for less than it's costing now & the bucks would be flying in. Like any scrooge he waited to see if the state would flip the entire bill, which hey, they almost are when you factor in the above information.

I think Carl is going to forget the naming rights. Carl is not the type that would want a corporate name. My guess is that he is going to name the park after him or a former Twins legend. Personally, it should be named after him.

Steak, I hate to disagree with you, but I'm not sure why you would think that Carl is such a great guy, that he'd not sell/lease out the naming rights of the stadium. He's not exactly been the greatest owner and I guarantee you that the naming rights for 25 to 30 million dollars, that goes right back into his own pocket, is part of the reason he's going ahead and signing off on this letter of intent (cuz face it, that's all it is at this point).

If he doesn't sell the naming rights and calls the stadium something like Twins Stadium, I"ll eat my shoe and take pictures and post them.

Will you eat your shoe and take pics of you eating your shoe if we get a new stadium?

Nah, the stadium will be coming, somehow, someway. Just not going to be built with Pohlad's name on it, that's for sure.

What's really going to suck is that it'll have some stupid ass name like Tower Records Stadium or K-Tel Field. (see avatar for how I feel about -that-)
