Looks like no light at the end of the tunnel for the Twins any time soon

With an off day to ponder the Twins' 7-11 start and the pitching staff's unsightly 6.10 ERA, General Manager Terry Ryan said Monday that no immediate roster shakeups were coming.

"You need to settle in a little bit," Ryan said. "It's way, way too early to start giving that a thought.

"Give these guys a chance to get their feet on the ground and see if we can get on a little bit of a roll. More often than not, they'll find a comfort zone."

The Twins plan to start a three-game series with Kansas City tonight using the same 25-man roster they used in dropping five of their past six games, three to the Chicago White Sox and two to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Twins have several players at Class AAA Rochester performing well, as the Red Wings are off to an 11-4 start.

Lefthander Dennys Reyes is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings, and righthander Boof Bonser is 2-1 with a 0.75 ERA in 24 innings. Jason Bartlett (.323), Jason Kubel (.333) and Terry Tiffee (.328) are all having success at the plate.

Meanwhile, the Twins have their share of players struggling, including Matt Guerrier (8.22 ERA), Jesse Crain (8.68 ERA), Michael Cuddyer (batting .185) and Juan Castro (0-for-10 against Chicago).

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said that typically players should be given a month to show what they can do.

"But if some guys really aren't even close," he said, "you have to make adjustments."
It must be depressing to be a Twins fan. Atleast you guys are playing the Royals, in mntwinsfan words, "Of course you're going to beat the Royals, they suck." So I guess we'll see Twins, eh? If you can get the easy win.

Do managers and general managers also get a month to show what they can do? No, they get all season and all of next season and all of the season after that and ... and ...

If the Twins are out of it come July 31st, they better hope Torii Hunter has a good year and stays healthy.
