Twins Season Opener - Game 1

The Twins came out strong tonight with a quick run in the first inning. Stewart singled, Castillo sacrificed out (Stewart to 2nd), Mauer got on base next on an error (Stewart to 3rd) and then White sac'd out to center... scoring Stewart.

Then it went dead as Halladay pitched a pretty good game after that, up the 7th when he gave up another run.

Santana on the other hand got rocked, giving up 10 hits and 4 runs in 5 innings tonight.

We are at the bottom of the 8th, the Jay's just scored two more so the score is now 3-6. It's not looking good for the MN Squad.

no it did not look good! WTF is wrong with Crain? Heck I could have hit that one out! Well 0-1!! Radke pitches tomorrow. We need to get him a lead so we have a chance at the win.

It was obvious that Crain was bothered by Reed Johnson at first base, imo. Crain threw, I believe, three straight pick-off attempts over to Morneau, before Rios homered on a fastball. Mauer isn't the best at throwing out baserunners (22% last year), so Crain went with a fastball. Rios owned that pitch.

what bothers me more than that, is that Santana was shakey all game long. This should have been a HELL of a pitching showdown and it wasnt.

Santana clearly only pitches well in the second half of the season. This is what, three years now?

Yep. Even the year he won the CYA, he pitched like crap in the first two months of the season.

Last year, same thing. Started slow and then came on like a freight train. (still say he was totally robbed last year).

He was robbed, he pitched well. Just seems like he always starts slow then he get's on a dominating streak.

Radke needs to NOT give up the early homer tomorrow and pitch a 7+ inning game we need to win tomorrow.

Any word on the pen for lefty help? Liriano better be a starter soon..

As long as they don't have any other lefties in the bullpen, Liarno isn't moving anywhere.
