    Danget!

Tough loss all. Just bad defense on the Brewers part. I hate that the Reds won this game. You have no idea.

    Re: Random Brewers Ramblings

Brewers claimed third baseman Casey McGehee off waivers Wednesday from the Cubs.
McGehee, who turned 26 earlier this month, hit .296/.345/.429 in 497 at-bats for Triple-A Iowa and then went 4-for-24 with eight strikeouts and no walks for the Cubs in September. The Brewers want more options at third base, but McGehee is nothing more than an adequate Triple-A player and he doesn't figure to get much better. He shouldn't be a candidate to make the team out of spring training.
Could be a diamond in the rough

Craig Counsell is still unable to play because of swelling in his right knee.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, there is "still no progress on closer Trevor Hoffman's oblique strain," and he is likely to open the season on the disabled list.

Ryan Braun took batting practice Friday and is set to test his sore right intercostal muscle in a minor league game Saturday.

Eric Gagne (shoulder) is hoping to throw for scouts once he's healthy.

Try and bring this back to life.

Kendall goes to Royals, Putz to White Sox (AP)

Jason Kendall got a $6 million, two-year contract from the Kansas City Royals and J.J. Putz agreed to a $3 million, one-year deal with the Chicago White Sox on Friday. The Tampa Bay Rays finalized their trade with the Atlanta Braves, acquiring pitcher Rafael Soriano and agreeing to a $7.25 million, one-year contract with the reliever.

    Rumor Mill

    Cubs considering Braden Looper
    By Mark J. Miller

The Chicago Cubs have apparently taken a close look at Braden Looper(notes). The team apparently had a workout with the hurler, according to FOXSports.
Free agent Looper is still unsigned due to the horrendous year he had last year with the Milwaukee Brewers in which he gave up 39 home runs in 194.2 innings, the entire league's worst.
The Cubs, though, currently have one of the league's worst bullpens so the team is looking into whatever options are out there to improve.

    Prayers for Stan Kyles

    INSIDE PITCH
Brewers bullpen coach Stan Kyles has known for some time that he has prostate cancer, but it wasn’t announced by the team until Tuesday.

As part of a team physical examination that Kyles took in January, a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test indicated he might have prostate cancer. A biopsy was performed just before he reported to spring training, and it confirmed the diagnosis.

“All the doctors seem to think there’s a very good chance they caught it early,” said Kyles, who will have surgery April 29 in his hometown of Spartanburg, S.C.

“Of all the (treatment) options, they thought it best for me to have surgery.”

The Brewers and Kyle kept the diagnosis secret until his surgery could be scheduled, and a plan was put in place to replace him on an interim basis with Class A Brevard County pitching coach Fred Dabney. Kyles is expected to be away four to six weeks.

Kyles began telling some of his relief pitchers of his situation last weekend in Washington. But he said some players just were getting the word Tuesday.

“It’s been seven weeks since I first heard, so I’m used to the idea now,” said Kyles, who will help get Dabney settled in before leaving the club on Friday.

“I talked to (Cincinnati manager) Dusty Baker about it. He went through this and came out of it OK.”

Wow something got posted in here! And I would hardly call Looper's season last year "horrendous" Yes he had a high ERA and gave up a lot of home runs...but he got the job done and he won games!! 14-7 W-L record, and as the saying goes, the only stat that matters is the win-loss colum.
