Brewers Get Torres

The Brewers have reportedly picked up Salomon Torres from the Brewers for right-handers Marino Salas and Kevin Roberts.
As much more trade value as Torres has had in the past, the Pirates are really selling low here. Salas, a waiver claim from the Orioles, and Roberts are both relief prospects and not particularly good ones. It would have been worth it for the Pirates to enter the season with Torres and see if he could rebuild his value.

Brewers add another piece to the bullpen but still no closer. Riske, Turnbow and Torres will battle for the closer's role.

Good pickup for the Brewers here, considering the price of relievers these days, this was a steal.

Last I heard it was 10 million plus incentives, which is pretty shocking.

it's only for one year so it's not that bad. If Gagne bombs, then he's a free agent. If he pitches well, then he's a free agent who will sign with another team, and the Brewers get draft picks in return.

$10 million guaranteed for Gagne isn't that bad? That is a horrible deal! The only thing that makes it look good is that the Brewers have gotten good setup men for him.

It's not a bad deal. Gagne has always been dominant in the National League. Only 1 year. I don't see why not. They have the money.

It's just too much to guarantee for a pitcher with health problems and someone who completely melted down in the second half last season.

I have VERY mixed feelings about all the signings the Brewers have made this off-season.

I think our bullpen is the same caliber it was last year, just different faces.
