Marlins optioned RHP Yusmeiro Petit to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 21-year-old rookie, who was called up May 13, has pitched in just 11 innings, whil going 0-1 with 10 strikeouts. The Marlins will need to make another move before Tuesday's game

Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Jeff Fulchino from Triple-A Albuquerque.
He takes the spot of Yusmiero Petit, who was sent down after Sunday's game. Fulchino, 26, was 2-4 with a 3.91 ERA, 74 H and 56/27 K/BB in 73 2/3 innings for Albuquerque. He's unlikely to be a mainstay in the Florida pen, but those kind of numbers in such a hitter-friendly environment did make him worthy of an opportunity.

Dontrelle Willis yielded two runs in 8 2/3 innings Tuesday in the Marlins' 6-2 win over the Orioles.
It was win No. 50 for Willis, moving him past A.J. Burnett for the franchise lead. Willis had a shutout going until the seventh, when Corey Patterson became the first left-handed hitter to homer off him this year. Two singles in the ninth caused Willis to be removed before he could notch his third complete game of the season. Joe Borowski came in and retired the lone batter he faced for the cheapest of cheap saves.

Mike Jacobs, who didn't play on Sunday because of a sore ankle, had an RBI double in three at-bats on Tuesday.
The Marlins had the DH available while playing in Baltimore, but Jacobs started at first base tonight. Joe Borchard was used as the DH

Marlins activated outfielder Josh Willingham from the 15-day disabled list.
Willingham, who had been out since June 6 with a left hand injury, will return as the Marlins' regular left fielder, leaving fewer at-bats available for Cody Ross and Joe Borchard.

Miguel Cabrera singled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on what was supposed to be an intentional walk in Thursday's 8-5 win over the Orioles.
Cabrera also singled and walked in the game. The Marlins scored four in the top of the ninth to tie the game, and Alfredo Amezaga made an outstanding grab at second base in the bottom of the inning to send it into extra innings. In the 10th, Cabrera was supposed to be walked after a single and a sac. However, he was able to reach across the plate and line Todd Williams' pitch into center. The Marlins ended up getting two more runs in the inning on a Miguel Tejada error. Joe Borowski pitched the bottom of the 10th for his 13th save.

Marlins recalled RHP Chris Resop from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Resop, who made the team out of spring training only to be sent down 10 days in, wasn't pitched very well at Albuquerque, compiling a 5.12 ERA in 31 2/3 innings of relief. He remains a nice long-term relief prospect, but it doesn't look like he'll figure into the closer mix this year.

Josh Johnson won't pitch Sunday night after his start on Saturday was rained out.
Johnson warmed up on Saturday, so the Marlins are going to hold off on throwing him until Monday. Manager Joe Girardi indicated that someone would be called up to start Sunday night, but it won't be Yusmiero Petit, who pitched Friday, or Renyel Pinto, who started for Triple-A Albuquerque today. Double-A Carolina's Anibal Sanchez might be the choice.

Dan Uggla (hamstring) is doubtful to play in Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
Uggla took batting practice on Saturday, but the hamstring still is bothering him. He could return to the lineup for Monday's game against Tampa Bay.

Oh, and its raining now. Looks like there won't be a doubleheader.

Marlins' manager Joe Girardi doesn't expect Carlos Martinez to pitch in the majors again this season.
Martinez will visit with orthopedic surgeon James Andrews next week. Surgery on the injured elbow could be an option.

In his major league debut, Anibal Sanchez scattered seven hits over 5 2/3 scoreless innings to beat the Yankees on Sunday night.
An impressive performance, though probably not one that's going to keep him in the majors. Sanchez got into real trouble in the sixth, giving up a single and a double while getting one out. With runners on second and third, Bernie Williams lined out to first, resulting in Sanchez's removal. Randy Messenger came in and got Melky Cabrera to pop out, preserving the shutout. Logan Kensing and Joe Borowski finished up the Marlins' 5-0 victory.

Ricky Nolasco surrendered three runs -- all coming on solo homers -- in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday in a victory over the Rays.
Aubrey Huff, Greg Norton, Russell Branyan and Julio Lugo all homered for the Rays in the 8-4 loss. Nolasco allowed three earned runs or fewer for the seventh time in his eight starts. He'll face the Nationals and Mets in his remaining outings before the break

Dan Uggla tested his hamstring during a series of agility drills prior to Tuesday's game.
''When you talk about hamstrings, you tend to be on the safe side,'' trainer Sean Cunningham said. ``You don't want something to become a chronic thing. It can become a nagging thing the whole year and then it becomes chronic. That's the last thing I want.'' Uggla hasn't played in eight days

Dontrelle Willis gave up just two runs over seven innings versus the Red Sox on Friday to earn his fifth win of the season.
Willis struck out seven, gave up seven hits, and walked just one. A rough May is weighing his overall numbers down, but Willis is 5-2 with a 2.76 ERA in 11 starts during April and June

Kevin Youkilis and Hanley Ramirez both hit leadoff homers in Sunday's game between the Red Sox and Marlins.
It was the first time in exactly one year that a game featured two leadoff home runs. Orlando Palmeiro and Felipe Lopez did it for Houston and Cincinnati on July 2, 2005. Ramirez's homer was his first in 150 at-bats at home this season.
