In the near future, outfielder Jeremy Hermida could be nearly as well known as Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera, Florida's young All-Stars.

Think of a left-handed-hitting version of Jeff Francoeur who grew up on the other side of Atlanta and also was a first-round draft choice in 2002.

Francoeur, called up by the Braves in July last season, was runner-up in the voting for National League rookie of the year. Hermida, who hit a grand slam in his first major league at-bat with the Marlins in September, could win the honor this year.

"I think he's got a great shot," Francoeur said in the Braves' camp at Disney's Wide World of Sports. "He has such a sweet swing. It's one of the prettiest lefty swings you'll ever see."
