Re: Giancarlo contract watch
I am fortunate enough to be in one of those markets where I get 2 teams full TV schedules, the Rays and the Marlins. The kid is a beast, offensively and defensively, he has been a bit injury prone thus why he hasn't played more than 150 games. It remains to be seen if he'll live up to it, just like any of the others, more of these contracts have failed than succeeded.
Re: Giancarlo contract watch
And he got a full no trade clause, opt out after 19....... Well see if he goes 13 with them

Opt out after 19? *shrug*
From what I read, if he were to opt out after 6 which the earliest he can bail on the team, he'd lose out on a lot due to the contract being very heavy on the back-end rather than up-front. Something like 2/3 of the entire net worth of the contract is in the last 7 years.

WTF is so special about him? Good stats, not great, not super-star caliber by any measure I would consider.

He's one of the three best hitters in the game right now.
Re: Giancarlo contract watch
Very back ended, the break down is $6.5-2015, $9-2016, $14.5-2017,$25-2018, $26-2019-20, $29- 2021,$32-2021-2023, $29-2024,$25-2025 and a $25 team option/$10 buyout-2026.
Re: Giancarlo contract watch
wasn't this his first arby eligible year? There's no way he's a Marlin by 2018.
Re: Giancarlo contract watch
He'll be in New York by the back end of that contract.
