SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that Josh Johnson is not expected to pitch again in 2011.
It's not surprising, given that the big right-hander has yet to resume throwing since experiencing a setback in late June. The good news is that Heyman hears Johnson has no serious damage with the shoulder and there is no expectation of surgery. He'll rehab his shoulder and hope to return at 100 percent for spring training next season.
Probably a smart move by the Marlins. Starting to wonder if Johnson will ever get any rhythm going with his career. He has only throw 200+ innings once back in '09. He had a real shot at a CY last season but had to be shut down in September. He is one of my favorite pitchers to watch when he is healthy so I hope next year he can come back and go a whole season. He will be 28 next year.
