Tired of watching their offense sputter, the Marlins are reaching down to their minor-league system in the hopes of finding a fix. Chris Coghlan, 23, one of the organization's top prospects, is being called up from Triple A New Orleans and will join the Marlins in Denver on Friday. As Bob Fortis of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported, Coghlan will take the roster spot belonging to pitcher Anibal Sanchez, who is headed to the disabled list after leaving Thursday's game with shoulder discomfort. Coghlan is a natural infielder who has split time this season between second and third base.
