Pitching matchup
FLA: RHP Ricky Nolasco (7-4, 4.35 ERA)
Coming off a career-high 12 strikeouts in a win over the Rays, Nolasco is emerging as a dependable starter. As a rookie in 2006, he won 11 games, and he is moving closer to that number. He threw a career-most 132 pitches in his 8 2/3 innings at Tampa Bay. In June, he is 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA in three starts. In May, he was 4-1 with a 3.97 ERA.

OAK: LHP Dana Eveland (5-5, 3.56 ERA)
Eveland got the start he had been looking for since his one-run complete game on May 21 in his last outing against the Giants. He pitched a solid 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on six hits while walking three and striking out five, marking the eighth time in 14 starts he allowed two runs or fewer. The win came after two consecutive starts in which he had walked six or more. Eveland will be facing Florida for the first time in his career.
