    Maybin Sent Down To AA

Marlins optioned outfielder Cameron Maybin to Double-A Carolina.
The Marlins were true to their word about giving him a chance, but there was no reason to expect Maybin to be an asset this year. The move guarantees that Cody Ross will be the Marlins' Opening Day center fielder, but that's only because the team is facing left-hander Johan Santana. Alejandro De Aza might start against right-handers, or the team could send him down and resume giving Alfredo Amezaga time in center. The other alternative would be to trade for a stopgap. Jeremy Reed would make a lot of sense.
What's the rush? Not like the Marlins are going anywhere anytime soon. Maybin needs to get some more ABs but it is interesting that he was sent all the way down to AA instead of AAA.

Re: Maybin Sent Down To AA

Cameron Maybin homered, tripled and walked Saturday for Double-A Carolina.
The Marlins were right that Maybin wasn't ready for the majors, but he might be too good for Double-A. He's 4-for-10 with two homers and three walks so far.
Of course this guy is too good for AA. He should be in AAA right now! Good start for Maybin and glad he acted like a professional and didn't get his head down after not making the team.

Cameron Maybin got called up a couple of days ago and I just noticed. He had a 4-hit game yesterday and another one today. Back-2-back!
