Pence is the kind of personality any team could use. It's never pretty and never looks pretty, but the man gives you everything he has. Low maintenance players are always a plus to contenders. Pence is a definite upgrade over the Ben Francisco-John Mayberry Jr.-Dominic Brown platter of mediocrity in right field. He also has a gun and always amongst the leaders in outfield assists. His home run total should pick up a little in a small park like Citizen's Bank. But one must realize he is not a superstar. He can steal bases, but his success rate is poor. His power tops out at 25 and has only had one season with a slugging % over .472. Aside from this season, only his rookie season did he hit over .300. He doesn't draw many walks. While he is capable of doing just about anything, he doesn't excel at any one thing. And he doesn't have any playoff experience.
