    Twins Kirby Puckett passes away

Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett died Monday, a day after suffering a stroke at his Arizona home, a hospital spokeswoman said. The 44-year-old Puckett, who led the Twins to two World Series titles before his career was cut short by glaucoma, was stricken Sunday morning at his Arizona home.

Rest in peace Kirby. Huge loss for the MLB.

    Wow.

You know, I hate being right when I say I saw this coming after the stroke.

Huge loss for the major leagues, and baseball fans everywhere.

Oh man, even after this morning hearing the news about his stroke, I did not imagine this to happen. This is a very big loss to MLB and the Twins organization. He was and has always been the face of the Twins without a doubt. One of my favorite players of all time.

RIP Kirby...my prayers go out to your family.

I was feeling like something was very wrong when I kept hearing today that Kirby was in critcal condition. This is really a shame. So young.

    RIP.

I know he was extremely young for a death, but it feels weird seeing a player that you saw on television while playing die. I know Caminiti did, but that was...different

Yeah hearing the news on Daryl Kile was a huge shock as he had been doing so well for St. Louis and appeared to be in great shape.

^ Good mention. Is Puckett's death a bigger shocker (or "has a bigger impact") to you guys or is Darryl Kile's death?

On one hand, Kile seemed perfectly healthy and was still somewhat in the prime of his career at 33, since he had just come off a great season where he posted like a 3 ERA or something.

On the other hand, Kirby has been battling several health problems lately and got taken to the hospital so you had to have had that little anxiety in you, however he's a Hall of Famer and was much more known than Kile.

Wow. So many highlight film shots of him. He was truly a great and his loss is very sad.

RIP Kirby. We won't forget you.

I think Puckett has a bigger impact. Kile was certainly a very nice pitcher, and his death was a complete and utter shock. However, he was not a Hall of Famer (and I'm not going to debate the legitimacy of Puckett in the HoF right now) like Puckett, he was a couple tiers below for me. He simply didn't have the name recognition like Kirby, and while Puckett was battling his problems, I don't think anyone expected it.

Puckett is a tragic figure. One who left the game before he should of and left life too quickly as well. He has been in the spotlight for both glory and as a result of controversy. But I know I will never forget all the great moments he gave to the game of baseball. I think regardless of if you were 8 or 80, seeing Kirby leap above the Metrodome fence, you know you'd give anything to replicate that.

    RIP Kirby

Not at all. Kile died from natural causes. When Puckett had his stroke, it didn't come as a shock. People that had a stroke wouldn't be the same again. Once he had the stroke, it would've been tough for him to survive the whole ordeal.

Kile's death comes more of a shock because no one expected that to happen. He was healthy. Puckett, on the other hand, battled weight issues after he played baseball.
