    Sad news for baseball...

    Darren Dreifort retired, per Rotoworld.com

Dreifort is the perfect example as to why you shouldn't give pitchers long term deals. For exhibit B, see another "Former Dodger, got his money, now retired", Kevin Brown (although Brown was actually a very good pitcher for a while).

    Later chap!

What are you talking about? Dreifort deserved every penny of that $55-million contract. Dude is a professional sandbagger.

Darren Dreifort is proof you shouldn't give pitchers huge contracts without some semblance of an effective performance record.

Better yet there should be a part of the contact where the pitcher must pitch 200 innings a year or he only recieves half his contact.

55 million to sit on the bench/rehab room and play with himself.. That is all that guy good do...

I guarantee that the next year, on September 17th when that pitcher is at 197 innings, he suddenly is not allowed to pitch for the rest of the year.

I like the Todd Hundley contract the best.
