Jarrod Saltalamacchia singled in Brian Snyder in the bottom of the ninth to give Team USA a 5-4 win over Mexico today.
Jered Weaver started and struck out six while allowing two runs in four innings. After Jonah Bayliss struggled, David Haehnel, Matt Smith and Stephen Andrade finished up with 3 1/3 scoreless innings to give the U.S. offense a chance to win. Interesting is that Rigo Beltran, who pitched a great game to prevent the U.S. from qualifying for the 2004 Olympics, was set to go today, only to be replaced just before gametime.
