they would be under 50% even if it held only 47K....

There are plenty of old stadiums.. don't mean that people do not go to the games

They tried a couple year back to contract teams. Twins were one of the teams. Thank god it did not happen. How do you take a team that won 2 world series out of the game? It is all about a new stadium! I think the removal of teams or moving them to a new city is not a good thing!

The Expos were the exception of the rule, they could not draw anyone. Hell they could have given away free tickets and that would not help.

I would love to see Las Vegas get a pro team. They sure would sell out there games. The casino owners and big wigs would do whatever it takes I am just supprised Washington got the team. The stadium where the aaa Dodgers play I heard was big enough for the ml team. They are worried about gambling. Shit there boys are old enough to do what they want to do, let Vegas get a team!

Not worth continuing with DD. He's stubborn and ignorant, a dangerous combination.

If you're gonna move the Devil Dogs, for cryin out loud, DONT CALL THEM THE DEVIL RAYS! Just makin sure...I wouldn't mind Toronto and Tampa Bay contract, so that the league can be rearranged to have an even amount of teams in both leagues.

    Please...

The Tigers, Indians, White Sox, and Pirates all drew about the same or less than the Jays in 2003, yet somehow Canada doesn't like baseball and the team should be removed.

The same team that was the first to break the 4 million fan mark.
The same team that lead the league in attendance for several years just a decade ago.

Baseball took a big hit in Canada because of the strike, and fans have been slower to come back than they did in the US. That's not a reason to move a team.

MLB does have too many teams. And why the expanded a few years back I have no clue. Both the D-Rays and D-Backs are struggling financially so apparently MLB failed to do their homework. Some markets probably shouldn't have a team. Though if we had better competitive balance like the NFL some of the smaller markets would draw better.

Yep, IIRC even the Expos drew large crowds pre-strike. Then the strike ruined their magical 1994 season where they looked like the best team in Baseball, and after that the attendance numbers went to crap

There are way too many teams in the league (and teams in the areas where nobody cares about baseball), and way too few get into the playoff. I am not complaining about the MLB playoff format, but only 4 teams out of 14/16 teams will lose people's interest early in the season. Football and Basketball are doing great, and they have almost half of the teams in it every year. MLB has to do soemthing about it. Maybe 6 teams in the playoff per league.

    Why have more playoff teams??

I personally think hockey and the NBA have it COMPLETELY wrong... Less teams makes it more of a bonus for the best performance.... now football I can understand more because it is ONLY a 16 game season to determine the playoff teams, and statisticaly, with the degree of error and probability, more teams in the playoffs helps ensure more of a chance that the best team will be sorted out....

And imp.. "please" indeed.. try going back over the history of attendance since the strike or since the inception of all the current teams....

Consistently, the Rays and the Jays are amung the absolute worst in total attendance and % of seats filled.... and as stated (even by you), Toronto does not have the argument of "small market", that some other teams can have

I disagree 100%......the addition of the WC to MLB was nothing but great IMO. It has brought teams that were very good into the postseason, and in a few cases those teams have gone on to prove that they were the best team that year. WC World Series winners is proof that the WC is a good thing for baseball........and it almost doubled the amount of fans paying attention to the playoffs. More means more ......pretty simple actually.....
