    Matsui or Sheets

Which one is most likely not to resign with their team and why?

I would say it will be Matsui. He would be the best everyday player available this offseason and would make a lot more elsewhere with the Yankees helping driving up the price. I think Sheets believes the Brewers are on the right path.

"and would make a lot more elsewhere with the Yankees helping driving up the price."

You can say that about anybody. You can say that about Sheets infact. And it's hard to say that anyone in the league is on the righter path than the Yankees with them restocking with All Stars every year.

I expect the Brewers to keep Ben Sheets.

This new owner for the Brewers, Mark Anatassio, seems very intent in spending and I expect him to pay Sheets marketvalue.

I think it would be great for the Brewers to retain Sheets.

As far as Matsui, don't count on him going anywhere. Williams is in his last of his contract. Sheffield keeps saying it might be his final year. Anyone think the Yankees would willingly lose their entire outfield? Matsui is also coming into his own as a true superstar. He already generates a ton of dough for revenue from the Japanese market. It might winter but he stays. I predict hell freezes over before Steinbrenner lets him go.

Lets not even talk about it if the Yankees don't win the 2005 World Series.

Brewers will retain Ben Sheets or the Selig Family will get chased out of town.

If the Brewers are committed to spending and can keep the young talent that they're bringing up, they could be the best team in the NL Central in 2 or 3 years. Sheets has to be first priority though.

The Selig Family does not own the Brewers anymore. Mark Anatassio brought the team this off-season

He could be after this season if the Brewers don't retain him.

Thank god. I must've missed that one. Thanks for the update.

He may be eligible for arbitration, but I even think that is doubtful... but I think Saber is right, no chance he is a FA yet

I think they just want to sign him long term now... before his value goes up even more

Best info I found though does not really concentrate on what his current contract is...

The Brewers plan another round of negotiations this week to sign Ben Sheets long-term and they may offer an intriguing structure. They do not have major money tied up in the near future, but with touted youngsters on the come such as J.J. Hardy, Prince Fielder and Richie Weeks, Milwaukee imagines a big arbitration bill about four years from now. So they might offer to pay Sheets the bulk of a four- or five-year agreement in the next two seasons, and much less thereafter.

I think Sheets' earliest possible FA date is 2006, but I could be wrong. I've heard that Gammons thinks it is 2005 and I've also heard he's wrong.
