MLB Chipper, Thome, Vlad Guerrero, and Hoffman elected to The Hall

Despite Edgar Martinez trending upward, Leo nailed the 4 selections from a year ago:
Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines Sr., and Pudge Rodriguez voted into Hall of Fame

Think Edgar gets in next year, with Mariano Rivera the only lock for the first ballot? Roy Halladay will get a push with posthumous sympathy, but Mussina and Schilling missed on their 5th and 6th year on the ballot and each had a greater career WAR than Halladay.

I'd agree that next year's likely Edgar and Mariano. Halladay has a chance especially with the sympathy factor but I don't see it.

Bonds and Clemens remain a wildcard but I still doubt it.

Perhaps with less of a no brainer crop, Mussina will pick up even more steam. Maybe Schilling too if he bans himself from social media and baseball simulator business ventures. I could see Mussina potentially joining Rivera and Edgar for that reason.

But does finding drugs in his system potentially dampen the strength of sympathy?

I thought Schilling's only video game venture produced a World of Warcraft knockoff? Unless you're referring to his cover athlete appearances for High Heat Baseball?

I don't think so. I saw somebody in Twitter offered in defense that retired athletes become dependant on those drugs because of the wear and tear on the bodies that they sustained during their playing careers.

He was in no condition to be flying a plane that day, though.

Man, for whatever reason I thought he tried his hand at an OOTP creation.

It's on the OOTP website so who knows if he was paid to say this but there is this.

    I remember that vaguely.

I just went and looked at eligibility over the new couple of years. I wonder if as time passes, if voters will slowly let more guys in on first year. Like guys that will deserve to be there, but weren’t necessarily transcendent like Jeter, Rivera, etc. The logjam that it creates partnered with scandals, makes baseball probably the most elusive HOF. Of course that brings both love and criticism.

Over the next 2 years, who all do you see getting in on first ballot? Also who gets in on second year, only delayed because there is a reserved on honor included with being a first year guy?

I don't think there's any shoe ins after Mo and then Jeter in the next few years. Halladay will have a shot because of his dominant stretch he had, PEDs will drag Pettitte down, and I don't know if Hunter's offense was enough but I think he'll be a fun debate regardless. There's a lull till 2022 when you have Ortiz and JRoll, plus I imagine Teixeira will have some support. And how many votes does ARod get..
