Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
I actually wouldn't hate a reunion with Adrian (Braves released him) if only so that he can get the 3 more HRs he'd need to become the Padres' all time home run leader.
If they follow through on signing Hosmer as has been rumored I'm not sure how he'd get much play time, though. (and at this juncture 3 HRs is questionable even if he's a starter)

Yeah right, more likely Andrew and Farhan will use their newfound luxury tax savings to sign Dodger killer Charlie Morton to too many years.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Losing Game 7 of the World Series and this offseason has been made all the worse with MLB Network touting Charlie Morton as a top-5 pitcher in all of baseball and how every other team are idiots for passing on him in last year's free agency.

Let me guess. You can't see it in his stats but "he finds ways to win" or some other intangible ambiguous BS like that?
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
No, it was Tom Verdouchey saying that Morton is in his top 5 pitchers with the best stuff, along with Strasburg, Scherzer, Kluber, and another ace whose name I forget (it wasn't Kershaw).
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Well whatever the reason they're on crack putting him in the top 5.
He was a good pickup, but saying he was that good is hyperbole to say the least.

Astros, Rangers Reportedly Set To Meet With Yu Darvish - MLB Trade Rumors
The Astros are going to reward Yu Darvish for throwing the World Series.

Giants get Evan Longoria for Christian Arroyo, Denard Span's expiring contract, and minor league pitchers Matt Krook and Stephen Woods.
Even if Arroyo is a bust, the Rays got out from under Longo's big contract. But knowing my luck, Longo will end up being next year's NL MVP.

I am just happy Longoria is no longer in the AL East to destroy the Yankees. I was really surprised they traded him.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
The Rockies are like your team in Franchise Mode when you sim through the offseason. You find out that almost all of your free agent budget has been spent on relievers.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Dodgers send SP spect Trevor Oaks and Latin utility infield type Erik Mejia to Kansas City for relievers Joakim Soria and Scott Alexander, but Soria isn't the one that they keep. :bushlol:
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Padres hired Fangraphs' Dave Cameron as Head Nerd. That's interesting given that he's on record against signing Hosmer to the type of mega contract the Padres are rumored to have offered.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Astros get Gerrit Cole from the Pirates. Third baseman Colin Moran and reliever Joe Musgrove are reportedly the two main players going to Pitt. Jon Heyman says the Pirates will get a total of 4 players back.
The rich get richer. Astros are giving up a couple guys from the back end of their roster, and neither of their top prospects.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Meanwhile they asked the Yankees for Adams, Frazier, and Andujar. Three of the Yankees top 5 prospects. Pittsburgh got what they deserved.
